A New Comet!

Yes, a brand new comet is gracing us with its Divine presence in our cosmic cup.

On August 11, 2023 Japanese amateur astronomer Hideo Nishimura detected a bright object very close to the Sun. No one had seen it before because the object was lost in the glare of our star. And, exciting news, it turned out to be a brand-new bright comet! On August 15, the Minor Planet Center officially confirmed the discovery and named the comet C/2023 P1 (Nishimura).

Astronomical News

While the Nishimura Comet moves closer to the Sun, Saturn is near one of the Four Royal Architects of Ancient Persia, the star Fomalhaut. The Sun in Leo opposes Saturn who currently resides in Aquarius (the Spiritual Hierarchies of the Angels – Spirits of Life).

The name Fomalhaut comes from the Arabic meaning Fish’s Mouth, which is how Ptolemy described it. From the earth Fomalhaut is 23 light years away, located at the mouth of the Southern Fish, Piscis Austrinus (also known as Piscis Australes), in the region of the southern autumn sky. In the heavens the fish can be seen drinking water flowing from the jar of Aquarius ~ old pictorial sky maps depict the Southern Fish drinking the water flowing from the jug of Aquarius. Other stories credit the stellar fish swallowing the waters of the great deluge, thus saving the world.

Fomalhaut, one the “Four Royal Architects,” [Royal Stars] inspires future vision for an evolved humanitarian-based society. Fomalhaut inspires new ideas and pursuits in the art-sciences, in technology, and in social issues of the world. Fomalhaut promotes the flow of resources within the human populous that creates a wholesome human condition. Fomalhaut defies convention and compartmentalization, but supports individuality, progress, and freedom.

Fomalhaut is connected with the evolutionary shift from one cultural age to the next, from the Piscean into the Aquarian Age. This future age, as indicated by this star, inspires future vision for an evolved, humanitarian-based society that sees an emphasis shift from the material world to the spiritual. What messages can we glean from these cosmic events as a whole from Heaven to Earth? The Angels are said to connect best with us when we are by a body of water, a pond, stream, lake, ocean, maybe even a sea salt bath! Saturn (Cosmic Memory); emissary of Aquarius, quite at home there, and has the light of the Sun shining upon it from the constellation of Leo. Fomalhaut nearby to Saturn may bring support for a transition of an evolved humanitarian-based society from the material world to the spiritual. What ideals do you hold high on your list, are you remaining true to them, or do they need a good dusting off to shine bright once more? What from our past, may inform our present, to take us into the future? How does your future inform the present? Where is your Good Star leading you for the future?

How may this new comet support an evolutionary shift? This new comet may be seen with the naked eye travelling through Gemini (the Spiritual Hierarchies of the Seraphim – Spirits of Love), Cancer (the Spiritual Hierarchies of the Cherubim – Spirits of Harmony), Leo (the Spiritual Hierarchies of the Thrones – Spirits of Will), Virgo (the Spiritual Hierarchies of the Kyriotetes/Dominions – Spirits of Wisdom) through to the third week in September. Here are some significant anthroposophical quotations about the meanings and tasks of comets.

From Elizabeth Vreede:

“Comets represent an element that does not wholly enter the usual sphere of cosmic law, although they still contain a trace of the direct working of spiritual powers, indeed, of the very highest — the Seraphim and Cherubim. Before ordinary law may be broken through, the very highest power and insight is required. The various comets, indeed, are agents of a very special nature in our planetary system, their polar antithesis being in the moons. Just as the moons are a kind of corpse which the planetary system trails along with it, so, on the other side, the comets may be spoken of as constant purifiers of the spiritual atmosphere within the solar system. In earlier times men thought of them as the ‘scavengers of God,’ and many superstitions have gathered around them.”

“To the eye of Spirit, the mission of the comets is perpetually to expel impure astral forces from the Cosmos or to introduce new impulses.”

John Beck

Also there is this little summary by Kathleen Fenton of some of the things Rudolf Steiner said about comets in Lecture 4 of The Reappearance of Christ in the Etheric:

He says “All the regularity of the ordinary round of earthly life is connected with the lunar influence; the entry of an elemental impulse, which always incorporates something new, is related to the influence of comets. So we see that these seemingly erratic heavenly wanderers have their proper place and significance in the structure of our universe.”

He says that individual comets have specific tasks and dissolve once they have completed them. Each comet impresses “its own particular essence on human nature, so that this essence and human nature take a step in the development of the human ‘I’ whenever the comet approaches the earth.” In the case of Halley’s, “this step leads the ‘I’ outward to physical concepts,” an influence RS says we need to resist, as it mitigates against the spiritual perspective needed now. He says when Halley’s returns (which it does every 75 years or so, though I believe he was referring to April 1910, the month following his lecture), it could prove an “evil guest…”

Speaking more generally he says: “whenever the human ‘I’ takes a step forward, the physical and ether bodies must be transformed in a corresponding way so that the whole human being evolves. . . . Comets work on the human physical and ether bodies in such a way that they actually create organs, delicate organs suited to further development of human I-being, especially as it has developed since the Christ impulse was integrated with the earth.

Kathleen Fenton

As I weave the threads of these cosmic influences over this weekend and into September, with awakened consciousness, I reach out to my Angels (maybe near some water) and Good Star for guidance and support on remaining true to my ideals, as a way to allow the future to inform present activities and tasks that contribute to the Earths mission and my incarnated mission in the Holy Light of Christ..

May God Bless us on our evolutionary human development in freedom with these new impulses, new ideas and pursuits in true love, true truth, true beauty and true goodness.

Love, Light, Life,
Kassandra

  1. Thanks Kassandra! So great to be made aware of this heavenly visitor, and able to follow it through the zodiac!
Interesting and encouraging to read about the nature of Comets.

    1. Location of new Comet C/2023 P1 (Nishimura) on August 27, 2023, some 45 minutes before sunrise. The comet is getting brighter. Latest observations put it at around magnitude 7.8, and perhaps soon you’ll be able to spot it in binoculars. Tomorrow morning, about 45 minutes before sunrise, look for the comet in the east above the bright planet Venus, which is just now returning before sunrise. Closest approach to Earth will occur on September 12, 2023, when the comet will pass at 78 million miles (125 million km) from Earth. Around this time, the comet transitions from being a morning object to an evening object.
